What is a Map ?
Map is not just a piece of paper. It is a symbolic depiction highlighting relationships between elements of space — it can be you, me or distant star on the space map.
As we know our Universe is big, so is the data. That is why Spatially-enabled big data on a maphas the power to allow you to answer questions and ask new ones like ‘ Where are disease outbreaks occurring?’, ‘Where is insurance risk greatest given recently updated population shifts’ ? and much more.
As map is link to various sector of society like defence, spread of disease, wildlife conservation, disaster alerts, economics etc. So now come the responsibility to use the map fully with big data.
Nowadays various experiments are going on in Big Data Visualization on Maps. You must listen this talk by Sam Pitroda who is the adviser to India’s Prime Minister for Public Information Infrastructure and Innovation and highlights India’s efforts to solve its challenges with geospatial technology.

As we all know social media is the ocean of data so by putting it on a map helps you track a dynamic situation. It can be for retailers who can see where promotions are most effective, banks who can learn where is potential market or government for city planning.
